문상직의 그림은 아름답다. 섬세하고 부드럽다 순결하고 평화로우며, 환상적인 분위기와 신비감이 비단결처럼 도는 엷은 물안개처럼 일렁인다.
「심상적구상회화」라고 불러도 좋을 그림들은 나직하면서도 공고하게 가슴에 젖어든다. 그윽히 바라보고 있으면 발바닥까지 하늘로 뜨게하는 어떤 「자장」을 거느리고 있음도 느끼게 된다. 거칠어진 마음을 풀어내리고 가라앉게 하며, 그 풀어짐과 가라앉음은 이윽고 그 반대방향으로 더듬이을 세우고, 비상의 이미지들을 빚어내기도 한다. 그는 「여성적」이라고 할 수 있을 정도로 여리고 섬세한 감성을 지니고 있으며, 결이 고운 서정을 아름답게 천착하고 있다. 그 때문에 그의 그림에는 기하학적인 구도, 예각적인 선과 면이 물러서버리고, 완만한 곡선과 유연하고 포근한 색채들이 자리매김을 하고 있다. 순진무구하고 명징한 세계를 꿈꾸며 그 세계를 향해 아름다운 오솔길을 만들어가고 있다. 소박하지만 일관되게 추구하는 「서늘한 정신주의」를 엿보이게 하며, 그 오솔길이 만나게 될 새로운 세계에 또다른 기대를 건다.

Moon Sang-jik's pictures are beautiful. they are delicate and tender. His pictures are pure and peaceful. They are full of fantastic mood and mistery like texture of silk, or thin mist. His pictures that are likely to be called 'Imaginary plastic Art' are soft and stable. Seeing that my heart, I can feel a certain intensity. They relas and soften us. His pictures that have very delicate emotion clear, tranceparent and suggest the sound of flowing water in vally. But they make us feel the secretly gentle power. Because of calmness, stationariness and emotion, his pictures in which pastoral lyricism is conspicuous express his individuality. They also remind us of exquisite lyric poem and sweet chamber orchestra. Sometimes they have secret attraciveness that makes us holy and mind. Moon Sang-jik has tender and subtle emotion enough to be 'Womanlike' and paints refined lyric beaytifully. Because of it, his pictures are full of slow curve and gentle, soft, worm colors instead of geometrical composition and the time surface of accute angle. ' A herd of sheep' of his doesn't show a herd of sheep that moves about in crowds in a leisurely way with peaceful nature what it is. He draws nature in mind and reforms, simplifies, distorts and shows his inner imaginary landscape. He dreams pure and clear world and make beautiful path toward the world. He shows simplicity but consistent 'Cool Mentalism' and makes us expect his another new world that the path will meet.
